Vacation Inn  the Endless Mountains, Pennsylvania!

The VACATION INN MOTEL was started in the 1960s as a haven from city life stresses where one could retreat to the countryside to relax and get away from it all. When the Centonze family built and opened up the Motel one of the comments we heard frequently was that we were the “only light in the wilderness”.  Of course there are a lot more lights now than 46 years ago, but the area is still real country with wild animals and working farms all over. One still has to drive 25 or 30 minutes to get to anything resembling a strip mall and our post office is 5 or 6 miles away. Customers have told us they are amazed to see deer or turkeys eating on the front lawn early in the morning—at least those customers that get up early enough to see them.

Located at the top of the ENDLESS MOUNTAINS and the northern POCONOS, the Vacation Inn is in the unspoiled wilderness that the POCONOS used to be. Easily accessible to both the interstates and city life when needed, the Motel is nestled in a part of the state that is still ruggedly rural and beautiful most of the year, especially when the foliage comes into full force on Columbus Day weekend.
 
Currently The Vacation Inn is just about finished with our room renovations.  We put in new heat, paint, sidewalks, beds, carpets & drapes, in short redoing the whole place from the sidewalks to the roof.  New & Full cable (HBO, SHO) with internet wired and wireless is everywhere now.  Our Restaurant is currently closed due to further work being done there to convert it to a lounge area which will be available for meetings/banquets or office rental space.  There are several places close by where one can get anything from coffee or a sandwich to a restaurant with a wine cellar for fine dining and special occasions. We will be glad to supply a list upon request per your requirements.  We have placed coffee makers in the rooms so you can wake up in the morning and get caffinated, decaffenated, tea'd up, hot cidered,or just hot chocolated. 
 
There are two sizes to the Motel rooms. Our Family rooms have a Queen and two Twins with a fold up Twin bed for an extra person when needed. There are also the Regular rooms with a Queen Bed that also have a fold up Twin bed for another person.  I have set aside a couple of Regular rooms  with a college bunk bed instead of the fold up bed for the extra tall person for comfort or for your longer stays.  All the beds are either brand new or within the last year or so. Pictures of the rooms are on the Rooms & Rates page and at bottom of page.  Cable TV is currently in all rooms. All the HBO and Premium movie channels are included with local channels too.  The rooms in summer all have new air conditioners with remotes.  All the rooms have private bath and shower. There is ample parking for some trailers for those staying inthe motel.   We will be glad to honor Visa, Master Card, & Discover. We don’t have extra room for those who come up just for the day to go snowmobiling, but there are convenient places a couple of miles up and down the trails available and they are easily accessible. I hope to do some work this year to make the parking lot bigger to handle the bigger snowmobile trailers.
 
We are located only 7 ½ miles from Elk Mountain and less than an hour from the SnoMountain/Montage ski area near Scranton.  The Snowmobile/Cross Country Ski Trails are reached by walking out the door and going to the end of the Motel driveway or through the field depending on which direction one is going.  In the summer the trails are used for hiking, bird watching, horseback riding, & relaxation. Hunting and fishing are very good in the area. Going to the Hunting section of this website you can get 30,000 acres of Game Land Maps within a half hour of the Motel and look at some of the fishing lakes and streams nearby. 
 
Some of the trails have been opened for 4 wheelers and this is an ongoing thing.  The plan is to connect with trails in NYS and charge a small fee/permit eventually.  This is still in the beginning stages and will be bigger & better as time goes on..

There are many summer camps in the area where parents send their children and there is quite a lot to see from a historical or tourist point of view especially from all the rich railroad history & museums in the area. Our policy with pets is simple. Seeingeye dogs and Hearing impaired dogs are welcome in our rooms.  All other pets are not. You can however keep them in your vehicle if they remain quiet.

Reservations may be made by calling 570.679.2100. Sometimes it may be easier to get us in the evening since we may be outside shoveling snow or doing something  and either out of portable phone range or the phone having frozen batteries and not working.
