Rooms and Rates

Our winter rates are from just before Christmas to just after President's Birthday weekend and our summer rates in July and August are as follows:

CURRENT WINTER WEEKEND RATES ARE: $59.95 for 1 person, $76.30 for a couple or 2 people, and $87.20 for families. These include the 9 % sales tax so you can plan your budgets. This is also the current price for our "2 night for the price of one during the week" special.
$50.00 + 9% tax for one person, one nite ($54.50 total, Queen bed) during the week.
$65.00 + 9% tax for two people, one nite ($70.85 total, Queen bed, Regular Room) This is the SUMMER & WINTER WEEKNIGHT (NOT Friday & Saturday) rate and the new OFF SEASON rate. WEEKEND RATES ARE $5.45 MORE FROM JULY THRU LABOR DAY WEEKEND and from DECEMBER 25 TO MARCH17 and on Memorial Day Weekend. If two beds are necessary for two people we will have Family Rooms available for the same price ($70.85) provided they are not rented or reserved and are available. Otherwise all the rooms have an available fold up twin bed which will be used as necessary. I do have a college single bunk bed in a couple of my regular rooms for anyone who is extra tall or where a second bed is necessary..
$75.00 + 9% tax for 3 or 4 people per nite ($81.75 total in one of our Family Rooms with a Queen and 2 Twins). This is the SUMMER & WINTER WEEKNIGHT (NOT Friday & Saturday) rate and the new OFF SEASON rate. WEEKEND RATES ARE $5.45 MORE FROM JULY THRU LABOR DAY WEEKEND and DECEMBER 25 TO MARCH 14 & Memorial Day Weekend.
On THREE DAY HOLIDAY WEEKENDS please understand WE WILL NOT take reservations for SATURDAY NIGHT ONLY. We will allow some Friday night only and Sunday night only reservations as we see fit. However, for SATURDAY NITE you CAN CALL EARLY Saturday morning or AFTER 6 pm on Friday nite or just show up early or anytime during the day Saturday and chances are very good that there will be rooms available. Usually reservations on 3 day weekends are ones that change all the time and it may actually be better sometimes to check with me a second time (if I told you I was filled up) because of the fluidity of the situation. We reserve the right to wait until the last minute to take reservations until Saturday morning or late Friday night after 6 pm for Saturday night only.
We will take reservations on 3 DAY HOLIDAY WEEKENDS for at least 2 nights only. Naturally 3 day stays will be given preference as to location.
As regards smoking, I have given up trying to separate Smoking and Non-Smoking rooms. Because of the new Commonwealth of PA regs, I have made the WHOLE MOTEL a NON-SMOKING FACILITY. This means that smoking is permitted outside and the ashes have to be left in the receptacles at the end of the building. Trying to get people to comply is going to be fun.
Since I have just completely recarpeted the Motel in the last year I will only allow pets as per the Disabilities Act. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may cause but I have had too many bad experiences with animals to do anything differently.
As regards to ski ticket packages, please understand that my rates are among the lowest in the area and since I am a small Motel I only get a $5 discount on tickets unlike the big chains who can rent 100s of rooms and get a much bigger discount. You will be closer here and save on gas since we are only 7 miles from Elk. And when staying here you will save so much on room rentals that it will pay for the tickets. If you are spending $100-150 for a room elsewhere you are saving the ticket price by staying here. And if taking advantage of our 2 night for the price of one during the week you will save even more.

We are currently renting rooms and are open while we are doing renovating. Have faith. Most of the Motel renovations are now finished. The Restaurant will take a little longer and is still closed for now.

Please understand that we have a TWO DAY NOTICE for CANCELLATIONS. This means that we would greatly appreciate it that you should call us by Thursday Noon if staying that weekend in order to cancel. If this is not possible, we will take each case on an individual basis as regards to if any penalities will be charged.

We reserve the right to wait to see if the room is rented before making a decision. If we are lucky enough to rent the room(s), then we usually will not charge the person making the cancellation(s).

We realize there may be problems with the weather. We also have the position that (as regards skiing) as long as Elk is open then we will assume skiing is ok. It will be our decision if we charge for one night or for some nominal amount or if we charge at all.

We will allow some leeway when March rolls around as regards to cancellations due to the weather as regards skiing. Snomobilers and Cross Country Skiers should call 570.448.1766 or www.nepsnotrails.org for trail conditions which I am told are updated regularly.

Sometimes we have weekly rates where one stays from Sunday thru Thursday or Monday thru Thursday. We are in the process of turning this into a special. More on that later as we are waiting to get the details worked out. If we don't have a special listed, then call, and I may not have put it up yet.
As regards to ski tickets in a package deal, we do not get a big discount on them like the big hotel chains and if you are planning to ski for 2 or 3 days straight you actually get a better deal by dealing with Elk directly when you show up and tell them your intentions when purchasing the first day's ticket. I can give a discount on room rates during the week (SUN--THURS) where you will save money, but usually not on weekends..

Reservations may be made by calling 570.679.2100. Sometimes it may be easier to get us in the evening since we may be outside shoveling snow or doing something and either out of portable phone range or the phone having frozen batteries and not working.
